How Black Beauty Creator Nikki Calloway Dyed Her Wig At Home for the First Time

To achieve the multi-dimensional pink color she was going for, Calloway used three shades of Manic Panic's Semi-Permanent Hair-Color Cream: Cleo Rose (a deep fuchsia), Psychadelic Sunset (an electric orange), and Pretty Flamingo (a warm pink that glows in the dark). "I used Manic Panic because it was cheap and growing up, that's all I saw people use really," she says.

She reveals it actually took her two full weeks to get the color exactly where she wanted it to be, but that she ultimately loves how it turned out and is surprised at how much positive feedback she's received since posting the finished look. "I'm shocked with how many people liked it on TikTok," she says, before adding: "I'm definitely going to do another wig very soon.

As it turns out, it all started when Calloway got the idea to dye her baby hairs different colors. "I'd never really seen it before, and mind you I'm not a fan of doing hair and have never even touched hair dye, but I just went for it," she tells Allure in an email.

Just look to her comments, where you'll find countless messages like, "I will never get over how stunning this is," "A whole icon ????," and "These colors. Omg ❤️❤️????. " Needless to say, we feel the same and are in awe of how amazing Calloway's wig turned out — especially considering this was her first time ever attempting such a thing without the help of a professional.

The finished look is truly a "sunset dream," as Calloway calls it, with accents of pink, orange, and red seamlessly woven together to create a sunset-like effect.
