It will be placed in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, a favorite spot of Princess Diana's and also where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to the world. "The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy," the statement reads.
In a joint statement from both of their offices, Prince William and Prince Harry said the statue, which was commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of Diana's death and “recognize her positive impact in the U. K. and around the world," will be revealed on what would have been her 60th birthday on July 1, 2021.
